Description
Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the State exam for Certification as a Nursing Assistant. Prerequisites: Required placement testing READ 088 or CASAS Level V, successful completion of criminal background checks, and current required immunizations. Tuition plus additional lab and malpractice fee, textbook, gait belt and blood pressure kit are required. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Basic understanding of health care, the role of the nursing assistant and the roles of the various members of the health care team.
Effective communication skills with clients, family, and other healthcare team members.
Basic techniques need for general health assessment and daily care of residents.
The cause and effect of various disease processes and the interventions needed for personal safety and preventative care.
Cultural awareness in all aspects of care. Building on students own cultural strengths.
English language competence for workplace communication.
