Description
Provides the fundamentals of caregiving as a foundation for the beginner healthcare provider. The course has been developed as a precursor for students interested in taking the Nursing Assistant training program at a later time. Prerequisite: Required placement testing, READ 078, or CASAS Level IV.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Provide examples of what is required and expected of a caregiver.
  • Discuss the importannce of protecting a client's rights.
  • Use effective communication and problem solving skills with a client, family members, and other team members.
  • Discuss how to protect the health and physical safety of a client and yourself.
  • Correctly provide personal care and other authorized tasks that are individualized to a client's preferences and needs.
