Description
Intensive six-week course designed to introduce a beginner to the needs and demands of the farrier profession. This course will give students the knowledge and skills to successfully shoe horses. This course is offered Summer quarter only.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Completely execute a basic shoeing job.
  • Identify bones and ligaments.
  • Identify parts of the foot that are sensitive and non-sensitive.
  • Identify gaits and gait faults.
  • Identify lamenesses and therapeutic shoes.
  • Identify conformation and conformation faults.
