Description
An introduction to the wine producing regions of the world including history, viticultural practices, and winemaking styles. Includes sensory evaluation of representative wines. Must be at least 21 years old to enroll. |
Course Topics
Identify the major wine producing countries of the world.
Identify the major growing regions in those countries.
Identify the major grape varieties in those regions and the wines produced from them.
Identify the characteristics of those wines and what makes them unique to their regions.
Discuss how differences of soil, climate and vinification practices are reflected in the wines.
Discuss the price/quality continuum as it relates to various wine types and styles from different regions.
