Description
Designed for English speakers who work with winery and vineyard employees whose first language is Spanish.   Covers basic pronunciation and verb conjugations while emphasizing vocabulary and expressions specific to the vineyard and winery.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Communicate basic concepts in Spanish
  • Knowledge of specific Spanish vocabulary applicable to vineyard/winery operations
  • Correctly pronounce industry-specific Spanish vocabulary

  • Course Topics
  • Pronunciation, the alphabet, greetings, introductions, commands
  • Vocabulary/verbs, numbers, days of week, months, telling time
  • Spatial directions, cultural tidbits
  • Employment/work setting, color, directions/locations, seasons, weather, questions and replies
  • Hispanic name, commands, cooperation
  • Present-tense verb conjugations
  • Introduction to past-tense verb conjugations
  • "Language Exchange" sessions with ESL learners
