Description
Examines selected films with emphasis on story, character, and criticism. Formerly LIT 144.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Categorize films into genres, eras, and interpret those films to derive themes and meaning.
  • Analyze and explain the typical process of film construction and completion.
  • Recognize and discuss major advances and breakthroughs in film techniques and technologies.
  • Apply terms and concepts associated with film criticism and production, such as mise-en-scene, point of view, and narrative to films from a variety of genres.
  • Analyze, interpret, and critique selected film classics as technical, commercial, and artistic projects.
