Examines selected films with emphasis on story, character, and criticism. Formerly LIT 144.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Describe the major film genres, eras and themes.
  • Explain and follow the typical process of film construction and completion.
  • Recount the development of major events in film history.
  • Identify and describe the major artistic elements of film: Direction, acting, mis-en-scene and narrative.
  • Analyze, interpret and evaluate selected film classics as technical, commercial and artistic projects.
