Examines poetry, fiction, drama, and non-fiction. Formerly LIT 140, Intro to Literature.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Critical Thinking: Discuss, explore, and critically respond to a wide variety of literary pieces drawn from various cultures and historic times
  • Critical Thinking: Evaluation and discussion of literary works
  • Communication: Improved ability to read aloud and appreciation of language
  • Communication: Production of unified, coherent essays which appropriately cite from the text under consideration
  • Lifelong learning: Develop a strong foundation in literary appreciation in order to continue exploration of literature on their own in the future
