Description
The CDA program is a national effort to train, assess, and grant a professional credential to child care and preschool personnel. Emphasis on working in a center-based model with three-five year old children. The student examines and refines each of the functional areas to meet specific needs. Writing proficiency is emphasized. Coursework provides 55 hours of the required training for the CDA. Recommended: READ 088.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Examine the national standards for the CDA credential.
  • Explain the functional areas and competency goals #6 (Maintain a commitment to professionalism), #1 (Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment), and #3 (Support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance).
  • Complete written statements regarding Competency Goals 6, 1 and 3.
  • Complete a written autobiography.
  • Collect 13 of 17 items for Professional Resource File.
  • Complete an oral presentation on an Observation Tool.
