Description
Designed for the more advanced drama student. A series of audition pieces suitable for use in auditioning for the professional theater will be prepared. These will cover at least four different types of pieces; that is, comic, serious, musical, classical, etc. At the end of the quarter the student will present two contrasting pieces as a program. Prerequisite: DRMA 251 or instructor permission. Formerly THEA 252. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate increasing creativity to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
Ability to play against “type”.
Exhibit diminishing self-consciousness and increasing self-confidence in live performance tasks.
Demonstrate an increasing mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
Ability to analyze and interpret a wider variety of textual materials and theatrical genres for performance.
Demonstrate an increasing mastery of effective audition techniques.
Ability to control personal “tendencies/habits” while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
