Description
The current play production is used as a lab course with practical application covering fundamentals of scene construction, costuming, scene painting, and sound and lighting operation. Formerly THEA 219. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate an increased working knowledge of terminology/tools used in “building” a live theatrical production.
Demonstrate increased proficiency in standard practices and techniques of the profession.
Demonstrate safe shop practices in specific areas of theatrical labor.
Demonstrate an increased ability to work independently as well as in cooperation with others.
Demonstrate creative problem solving techniques as inevitable challenges/opportunities of production arise.

Shop tools and their proper use (including issues of safety)
Hardware specific to theatrical construction
Flat-Frame Construction
Platform Construction
Painting (types of paint used, choosing colors, varieties of application techniques, etc)
Building for an audience (“sightline” issues)
Lighting Instruments (types, maintenance, hanging/focusing, etc.)
Special problems unique to our specific theatre space
Special problems unique/specific to the current prodution
