Description
 Introduction to script analysis, scene study, and audition/monologue preparation. Students will further explore acting technique. Instruction in physical and vocal technique and a unit in theatrical makeup application are included. Work in improvisation continues. The student will complete the course with a public performance of a monologue and scene at the end of the quarter. Prerequisite: DRMA 151 or instructor permission. Formerly THEA 152.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Demonstrate greater creativity in outward verbal and non-verbal expression to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
  • Exhibit less self-consciousness and greater self-confidence in live performance tasks.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret textual material for performance.
  • Demonstrate improvement in controlling personal “tendencies/habits” while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
  • Analyze and discuss the performances of others in objective ways.
  • Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
