Beginning Acting II

Description
Introduction to script analysis, scene study, and audition/monologue preparation. Students will further explore acting technique. Instruction in physical and vocal technique and a unit in theatrical makeup application are included. Work in improvisation continues. The student will complete the course with a public performance of a monologue and scene at the end of the quarter. Prerequisite: DRMA 151 or instructor permission. Formerly THEA 152. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate greater creativity in outward verbal and non-verbal expression to exhibit a wide range of characterizations/emotions.
Exhibit less self-consciousness and greater self-confidence in live performance tasks.
Demonstrate a mastery of standard terminology of the acting profession.
Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret textual material for performance.
Demonstrate improvement in controlling personal “tendencies/habits” while developing proper techniques of vocal and physical expression necessary for live performance.
Analyze and discuss the performances of others in objective ways.
Develop continuing respect and appreciation for the differing talents and abilities of other performers.
