Description
This course explores the latest trends and yesterday's classics in this high-energy class. Students will learn popular line dances from today and old favorites from the past.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Demonstrate correct footwork, rhythm, and stylistic elements of Western and line dance.
  • Memorize and perform movement combinations associated with specific dances.
  • Collaborate with others in the partner and group dances.
  • Demonstrate improvement incoordination, stamina, and rhythmic ability.
  • Assess fitness level as it relates to the demands of Western and line dance.

  • History of line dancing and popular culture
  • Basic steps and terminology (walls, turns, Mambo)
  • Beginning country line dances (Country Slide, Darlin' Mambo, Puttin' on the Ritz, Cowboy Charleston)
  • Fitness value of Western and line dancing
