Description
Explore communications using Internet technologies, both wired and wireless media. Topics include the variety of access devices such as cell phones, PDAs, laptops and desktop computers. Focus will be on access, personal security, browsing, file sharing, e-mail, and HTML (XML). Construction of a basic web page using HTML will close out course. Learn how ftp and http help move information. |
Intended Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge of the Internet's role in society.
Demonstrate knowledge of the basic infrastructure of the Internet.
Access Internet providers.
Demonstrate knowledge of privacy and security issues.
Use Internet mail services and newsgroups.
Search the Internet using various search engines and techniques.
Demonstrate knowledge of search techniques to filter unwanted material.
