Description
Introduces the correct structure and writing technique for a variety of business documents including electronic and oral communication in today's business world. Taught in context of a Business Plan and Entrepreneurial project. Students will be in a cohort group and course will be tightly integrated with other Entrepreneurial course work required for the certificate. Prerequisite: Instructor permission.

Intended Learning Outcomes
  • Correctly and effectively write, proofread, and edit all types of business documents and electronic communication.
  • Develop oral communication skills in a business context.
  • Identify appropriate personal and ethical behavior in the business world as it applies to communicating in business.

  • Effective communication processes in business.
  • Biased writing—things to avoid.
  • Correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Business memos and letters requesting services and goods, responding to inquiries and claims, and refusing requests.
  • Persuasive sales letters.
  • Letters of goodwill, appreciation, congratulations, sympathy, and recommendation.
  • Formal research reports.
  • Effective oral communication and presentation skills for business
