Accounting Technology has a broad focus that emphasizes the skills required for a successful career in accounting or bookkeeping. Students take a variety of courses in subjects such as financial accounting, payroll accounting, tax accounting, and managerial accounting. Students also become proficient with several computer accounting systems. Select courses are available through distance learning. The Accounting Technology curriculum is reviewed by an advisory board composed of local and regional industry members.

Mission

We believe the most critical factor of success is confidence, we make every effort to foster self-esteem throughout the department, empowering students to perform successfully in business-related careers and/or at the baccalaureate level.

Program Outcomes

  • Program completers will demonstrate technical competency in core ability and related instruction curriculum components.
  • Student and employer satisfaction will reflect a high degree of self-esteem, self-confidence and the potential to grow within that job or business.
  • Students completing the AAAS degree will become employed in a living wage job, with benefits.

Degree Options

Students may earn an Associate in Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Accounting Technology upon completion of a two-year program of study. A Bookkeeping Certificate is also available.
