Mailing List Information

Definition

The mail list process is a program that distributes email messages to subscribers of topic-oriented mailing lists or email groups.  Each list consists of individuals who share a common business function and a mail list simplifies communication with all those individuals.

There are two different types of mailing lists on our server

1. System Mailing Lists, which are managed on the server and unavailable to subscribers. These lists are designed for on site use.
   An example would be staff.all@wwcc.edu. It is only used for email sent to and from those on campus.
2. Custom Mailing Lists reflect a department or group and are managed by individuals.
